Many children can read well but do not always understand what they are reading. When it comes to comprehension exercises, they often guess the answers from what they remember reading, rather than taking the time to search for the appropriate evidence to back up their answers. I see this a lot, which is why I felt it important to start this Comprehension Club.
Analysing short pieces of text is a great way to improve reading and interpretation skills. Seeing how authors use language and writing techniques is also a really helpful way to improve your own writing. It can even introduce you to stories you might not otherwise have considered!
The Comprehension Club meets weekly on Tuesday evenings (for a block of five sessions) from 5.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. SUITABLE FOR KS2.
The dates for the next block are:
14th, 21st, 28th Sept, 5th & 12th Oct
