Young Writers

The Young Writers work on their creative writing technique, including plot and character formation and the study of different genres.

The Young Writers group meets weekly on a Saturday, from 5 p.m to 6 p.m. SUITABLE FOR YEAR 6 AND ABOVE.

The dates for the next term are:
20th, 27th, April, 4th, 11th, 18th May HALF TERM 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th June, 6th July.

Each term costs £175 (10 weeks). Add to cart now to purchase one term.

The Young Writers group provides an outlet for young people to foster a love of creative writing.

Though regular writing practice can certainly help with secondary school English examinations, it is not about that. Many children leave junior school with a love of creative writing that is simply lost when they move on. The focus at higher level is literature, predominantly, and there is very little time in the curriculum to ‘just write’.

For all those young people who love writing, this is for you. For those who think they might want to be an author one day, this is for you. And for those for whom writing is a means of expressing yourself where the spoken word is not always possible, this is for you.

According to research by the National Literacy Trust, young people’s enjoyment of writing decreases significantly when they get to secondary school. By offering a small and non-judgmental group-setting environment, the Storymakers Writing Club hopes to change that.
